Circumstances of Loss : **BUILT OF IRON. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY J & G BURNS. ONE BOILER, COMPOUND EXPANSION ENGINE, PADDLE PROPULSION. TOOK PASSAGE LIVERPOOL FOR GLASGOW ON 17.6.1850 WITH CREW OF 40 & 170 PASSENGERS. AT 1.15AM STRUCK ROCKS OFF LT HOUSE AT ENTRANCE TO PORTPATRICK HARBOUR. SHIP WAS AT FULL SPEED & IMPACT TORE HER BOTTOM OUT AND SANK IN A FEW MINS. 60 DROWNED. (DODS). 41 LIVES LOST. (SII).
