The Bavarian summerhouse is sited towards the S edge of the castle policies, to the E of the old quay. Built about 1845 it was largely restored by the NTS in the 1970s/80s.
The 1st edition OS map marks the sites of three summerhouses built in the mid-19th century but only this one survives.
