This milestone stands on the N verge of the B733 public road a little to west of the Standing Stones of Torhouse stone circle (NX35NE 14). It is a granite pillar, triangular in section with two dressed front faces each about 0.31m broad and a rounded, more roughly-hewn, rear face 0.4m across. The stone, which has been painted white with the detail highlighted in black, stands 1m high. On the SW face of the stone there is an incised letter 'W' (for Wigton) above an arrow pointing E, in the direction of the town, and a '3' indicating the distance in miles. On the SE face the letter 'G', another arrow, this one pointing W, and the number '14', indicating the distance in miles and direction to Glenluce via Kirkcowan.
