Single chamber, rectangular-plan lectern dovecot. Narrow bands of coursed rubble with dressed rubble doorway. Stepped rat course/alighting ledge of Angus stone slate and ashlar cornice. Angus stone slate roof and ashlar-coped skews.steps up to centre door with dated door jambs, armorial panel inscribed HOP IN THE HEIST and dated 1565 over alighting ledge and corniced canopy above forming base of pointed-arch opening.

Walker notes that the armorial panel and elaborate entry port appear to have been taken from some earlier structure as the stonework differs from that of the dovecot. Andrew Wright, mason to the Strathmores, was here from 1689 and was probably the builder. (Historic Scotland).
