Large, classifically detailed, quadrangular steading, with 2-stage rusticated ashlar fronted tower and birdcage bellcote over vehicular entrance pend. Square and pinned rubble with rubble base course and granite ashlar dressings.S range. 3-pane, vertical glazing to 1st floor windows. Grey slates, coped ashlar stacks; 2 stacks above pend to N.

According to Simpson, the steading is dated on the belfry; this is now difficult to see. Built by General Duff, who lived at Carnousie Castle 1790-1804, and was "enclosing his mains" in 1792 (OSA).(Historic Scotland)
