NLO: Dunbeath [name: ND 161 296]

Dunbeath Bay [name centred ND 164 291].

Wick, 18th Aug. A small sloop, with salt, went to pieces at the entrance of [the] Dunbeath river.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 14,471, London, Tuesday August 21 1860.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9858).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The Dunbeath River enters the North Sea at ND 165 293.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 23 November 2006.
