NS 0503 6087 Site 99 Meikle Kilmory Upper
On a bluff 200m south of Meikle Kilmory are slight wall footings of a rectangular building shown on OS1. This is the remnant of a farmstead with three buildings and yards shown on May (1780). It was then a secondary focus of Meikle Kilmory, and may have a long history as a separate township before 1500, although its name is not known.

NS 0503 6087 Building remains: Located on bluff above field 200m S of Meikle Kilmory. There are the wall-footings of a rectangular building, 10 x 4m, aligned down-slope. 1780/81 map shows several buildings on this site in 1780.
Information from Bute Natural History Society Deserted Settlement Survey (1991-9)

As depicted on a mid 18th century estate map (Foulis 1758-9), this farmstead comprised a cluster of five buildings standing 200m S of the modern steading at Meikle Kilmory (NS06SE 397), in what is now uncultivated ground. A slightly later estate map (May 1780-82) shows the steading comprising four buildings, but they were more scattered than before, spreading into arable ground slightly nearer the modern steading. By the 1860s all that remained was the single unroofed building noted in previous descriptions, which is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Buteshire 1869, Sheet CCXV). This building was not found on the date of visit.
