A horse racing circuit has been identified from oblique aerial views taken in 2009 (RCAHMSAP 2009), on Gala Rig part of Selkirk Common.

The racecourse is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Roxburghshire 1863, sheet xiii), which shows a elongated oval circuit. The 2nd Edition also shows a 'Paddock' at NT 49301 27469, which along with the racecourse is also shown on the current OS digital maps.
