Possible traces of the ornamental pond depicted on the 1st Edition of the OS 6-inch map (Peeblesshire, 1853) have been identified from oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 2009). Visible as a circular mark about 99m E of the house (NT25SW 10.00), it matches approximately the area shown on the earelier map. The circular mark could also be a horse training circuit.
