This intermediate station on the Glencorse branch of the former North British Rly was opened on 23 July 1874 by the Edinburgh, Loanhead and Roslin Rly. It was closed to regular passenger traffic by the London and North Eastern Rly on 1 May 1933.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 22 April 1999.

R V J Butt 1995.

Brick building with slated roof. Painted sign 'Booking Office' above the entrance is possibly not original as illustration of 'passenger entrance' in 'The Glencorse Branch (Hurst, J, 1999, 78) shows the lintel above the door as blank. Some interior details survive including the ticket window and barrier (Hurst 1999).

The station is not depicted on the 1st Edition OS 6-inch map (Edinburghshire, 1854).
