NLO: Ardlamont Point [name centred NR 989 637]

Kyles of Bute [name centred NS 040 730]

Loch Fyne [name centred NR 94 89].

Possibly on map sheet NR96NE.

Not to be confused with NR96NE 8003.

Formerly entered as NR87NE 8003 at cited location NR 8869 7630 [N55 56 W5 23] and as NR96SE 8001 at cited location NR c. 990 640 [N55 56 W5 23].

(Location of loss cited as 'Loch Fyne').

P Moir and I Crawford 1988.

(Location of loss cited as 'Lower Loch Fyne, Ardlamont Point').

R and B Larn 1998.

(Classified as steamship: no cargo specified, but former name cited as Ormsa and date of loss as 25 August 1948). Moonlight: this vessel foundered approximately 0.5 mile South of Wee Skate Island.

Registration: Greenock. Built 1913. 100grt. Length: 20m. Beam: 5m.

(Location of loss cited as N55 50.50 W5 18.00).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Larn and Larn. That of Wee Skate Island cannot be ascertained from the available map evidence.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 23 August 2004.

(Re-entered as NR96NW 8006 at cited location NR c. 94 66 [N55 51 W5 17]). The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The loss of this vessel may have occurred within the area of map sheet NR96NE.

Per contra the above, Wee Skate Island is probably to be equated with Sgat Beag [name: NR 942 665] off the SW side of the Cowal peninsula.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 27 November 2009.
