The octagonal stone block pictured in MS 5741/5/33 has no signs of gnomons or lines that would suggest it was part of a sundial. The plinth in the form of a lion illustrated in MacGibbon and Ross (volume 5, page 450) has a flat surface on the lion's head which might have supported a sundial. (Anne Cassells, 8 October 2009).
