NN 8996 1046 (centred on) An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by CFA Archaeology Ltd between 18th September and 13th October 2006 at Gleneagles West in advance of its development as a golf course complex. Two hundred and twenty-one trial trenches were excavated, amounting to 25,929m squared (c.5%), across the locations of the findspots of pre-historic artefacts (NN81SE3, NN81SE6), and an area of open moor land. Three roundhouses, a burnt mound and various pits, postholes and ditches were discovered. It is possible that some of the pits, postholes and ditches are also of prehistoric date.
