NG 4699 4371 In the river, close to the north-west corner of the new Shinty pitch are the remains of a small dam, by-pass lade and overflow chute. It is possible that this dam complex once served to turn water into the reservoir which was filled in when the Shinty pitch was constructed. This reservoir is plainly visible on both the air photo and the OS maps of the survey area.

Martin Wildgoose, December 1998.
