The dye works for Ferguslie Thread Works were situated on the southern boundary adjacent to Potterhill Junction of the the Glasgow and South Western Railway (GSWR) Potterhill Branch and Paisley Canal Line.

The building was rectangular in plan with a central block and had a saw-tooth roof.

The works are first depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Renfrewshore, 1898-99, sheet xii) and all subsequent historical editions of the OS maps.
