NC04SW 8006 unlocated

NLO: Point of Stoer [name: NC 022 356].

See also NC96NE 8012.

Ullapool, 10th Nov. A ship's boat, marked 'MARGARET HANSON, of Grangemouth, David Galloway, Master', without oars, was seen drifting about on the 2nd Nov., and towed on shore at Drumboig on the North side of Stoer Head [Point of Stoer].

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 11,745, London, Thursday November 13 [1851].

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 8707).

(No classification or cargo specified: date of loss cited as 2 November 1851). Margaret Hanson: a small boat from this vessel was found near Stoer Head [Point of Stoer]. Capt. Galloway. Registration: Grangemouth.

(Location of loss cited as N58 20.0 W5 20.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are essentially arbitrary. The vessel presumably foundered out at sea, possibly beyond Scottish waters.

The location of Drumboig cannot be ascertained from the available map evidence. Point of Stoer lighthouse (NC03SW 6) is at NC 0037 3296.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 20 September 2006.
