This dock (essentially a broad basin) forms the NW part of the Great Harbour at Greenock. It is entered through an open entrance on the NW, and gives direct access to both the Garvel Dry Dock (NS27NE 31.01) and the James Watt Dock (NS27NE 17.00). A through passage allows access to the Great Harbour (NS37NW 18.00).

This dock is depicted, but not noted, on the 1993 edition of the OS 1:10,000 map.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 15 June 2006.
