Details in 1948: Output 800 tons per day, 210,000 per annum. 657 employees. Baum washer [a coal cleaning system using water and compressed air], baths (under construction), canteen (snacks), AC electricity generated by National Coal Board (NCB). Report 23-08-1948.

Other Details: Well known for water problems, but these ominously eased with the sinking of the ill-fated Rothes [NT29NE 8] nearby.
