NG35NE 8001 c. 36 57

N57 32 W6 25

NLO: Loch Snizort [name centred NG 32 61]

Skye [name centred NG 45 35].

Not to be confused with NO53SE 8005.

Possibly on map sheet NG35SE.

Kyleakin, 16th Jan. The ISABELLA (schr.), of Londonderry, McKenzie, was totally lost near Lynedale, Loch Snizort, Skye, on the 29th Dec. About half the cargo and a small quantity of materials saved.

Source: LL, No. 15,844, London, Friday, January 20 1865.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 10783).

(Classified as Schooner: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 29 December 1864). Isabella: this vessel was wrecked at Lyndale [Lynedale], Loch Snizort. Capt. McKenzie.

Registration: Londonderry.

(Location of loss cited as N57 31.75 W6 24.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Lynedale is not noted as such on the 1998 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but Lyndale Point is at NG 367 573, within the SE part of Loch Snizort. Lyndale House (NG35SE 31.00) is at NG 36745 54885.

This vessel presumably stranded, rather than foundered.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 19 February 2007.
