NLO: Lybster [name: ND 248 355]

Lybster Bay [name centred ND 248 345].

Banff, 28th Oct. The SCOTIA, of Inverness, McKenzie, from Lybster to Harburg, with herrings, which put in here 18th Oct., leaky, had struck the ground heavily at Lybster on the 15th, and had also slipped from an anchor and chain. On the 16th she had been in contact with the SUSAN HENRY (? SUSAN HENDRY), of Kirkcaldy, which had bulwarks and rails damaged.

Source: LL, No. 15,463, London, Saturday, October 31 1863.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 10452).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably on account of her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 13 December 2006.
