This cottage, which is situated in the corner of a cultivated field about 550m SW of Balmenach Distillery (NJ02NE 9), has been reduced to little more than grass-grown wall-footings, partly obscured by field-cleared stones. L-shaped on plan, with its open side facing N, the cottage is depicted roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Elginshire 1874, sheet XXXIII), but it is shown unroofed on the 2nd edition of the map (Elginshire 1905, sheet XXXIII.NW).
