A T2 type A transportable (cranked sheeting) shed (aircraft hangar) stands on the S perimeter of the airfield in what was the technical area. The hangar was built to design number 3653/42, 'Home Standard T2'.

The hangar was designed to allow for the greater size of aircraft being introduced by 1941 and superseded the Bellman type hangar. Produced as a result of collaboration between the Air Ministry and the Teeside Bridge and Engineering Company, the hangars were prefabricated units of welded-and-bolted construction.

The hangar was used by the Department of the Environment (DoE) for storage, but is now in use for Heavy Goods Vehicle training.

There was a second aircraft hangar at Milltown, a B1 type situated on the W side of the perimeter (NJ 26420 66244), and both this and the extant building are visible on vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 169, 3305-3306 and 5327-5328, flown 26 August 1946).
