Stone built, slated rood, five bay hotel situated opposite the entrance to Carstairs Junction station. Later extension with dormer to the SE and an additional porch added to main door.

Now stands empty and 'For sale'.

Originally built as a single structure and annotated as 'Carstairs Junction Hotel' (1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire, 1883, sheet 11), by the date of the 2nd edition (1900) had been extended to include extensions to the SE and to the rear and would appear to have remained in this condition apart from the addition of the front door porch until the present day.

The Object Name Book of the Ordnance Survey (ONB) decribes the hotel as ' A public house two storeys slated the property of the Caledonian Railway Company (Name Book 1883).
