The Object Name Book (OS) describes this building as ' A church belonging to the Free Church of Scotland. It is built of lime and stone slated and in good repair. It was erected in the year 1844 and 1845. It conatins about 70 sittings. The walls are about ten feet high and the roof is very much slanted. There is a manse attached to it (NB46SE 57.01)'.
