The overall layout of the farmstead at Thurdistoft is largely unchanged from the depiction shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet vi). The complex includes two ranges of E-shaped plan and one of splayed L-shaped plan offset to the S. The three-bay farmhouse lies immediately to the NE and stands one-and-a-half storeys in height. It has a circular garden to the front, NW, enclosed by a low wall and surmounted by iron railings. The site was visited in 1993.
