This grass-grown quarry is situated on the NE shoulder of Osties Hill. The pit is roughly oval on plan, measuring about 5.7m from NW to SE by up to 4m transversely, and it is up to 0.8m in depth on the SW, where there is an exposed rock-face. The quarry is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
