NMRS REFERENCE:

Wallyford House is depicted on the OS 2nd Edition map (Haddingtonshire, sheet IV, 1907). Demolished 1948

Information from RCAHMS (TIC), March 2002

This ruin was recently demolished in order to answer to the needs of a housing scheme, and with the permission of the Ministry of Works who operate the Ancient Monuments Acts 1913 and 1931. A short description of the ruin is contained in the Royal Commission on Ancient Monuments Inventory for the County of Midlothian. The original house has been L-shaped in plan and judging from certain remaining features appears to date from the early part of the 17th century; but when an eastern wing was added the fenestration of the older part appears to have been altered by the enlargement of the windows.
