N57 26.25 W6 35.75

NLO: Loch Dunvegan [name centred NG 21 53]

Skye [name centred NG 45 35].

(Classified as schooner: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 26 March 1874). Hope: this vessel was wrecked near the old inn at Dunvegan (1835 Wexford 74 tons register?).

Registration: British.

(Location cited as N57 26.25 W6 34.75).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentatuive, being derived from the unverified location that is cited by Whittaker. It presumably falls within the intertidal zone, opposite Dunvegan village, at the head of the loch. The Old Inn at Dunvegan is presumably to be equated with Dunvegan Hotel (NG24NE 26), at NG 25093 47832.

Loch Dunvegan is an extensive loch set into the NW side of Skye, to the W of Waternish.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 5 August 2008.
