NS46SE 492.00 from 4999 6362 to 4500 6350.

A considerable section of the canal has been retained in the grounds of the Ferguslie Thread Works.

J Lindsay 1968.

On this map sheet the canal pursues a winding course from E to W through the S part of the town of Paisley, passing through two tunnels (NS46SE 492.09 and NS46SE 492.24) and being served by a busy basin (NS46SE 492.11) in the centre. It then heads W into the countryside towards Elderslie. Much of the canal was overlaid by a railway after its closure in 1881.

See also sites NS46SE 50, NS46SE 130 and NS46SE 492.01 to NS46SE 492.42.

Information from RCAHMS (MD) 11 April 2002.
