A brick works is depicted on the 1st edition of the 6-inch map (Linlithgowshire, 1856, sheet 9) some 220m SW of the farmstead of Nethermuir. A presumably associated clay pit is also shown some 100m to the N, at NS 9584 7017. Nothing has been noted in the Ordnance Survey Name Book about these brickworks.

The site of the brickworks is now occupied by a group of buildings annotated 'Netherwood' on the OS 1:10000 scale map (1989).
