[This bridge carries a track over the Union canal (built 1818-22, designer Hugh Baird), some 300m NE of Fairniehill farm. A typical bridge is described on NS97NW 61.02, q.v.]

(Undated) information in NMRS.

A farm track traverses the canal on this bridge, with overhead power lines also located at this point.

H Brown 1997.

A footpath traverses the canal on this bridge, as shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Linlithgowshire 1856, sheet 6). On the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Linlithgowshire 1897, sheet 6NW) a mineral railway crosses the canal on the bridge, serving Philpstoun shale oil works. However, on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map and on the OS 1:10000 raster map (ND) the bridge merely carries a track over the canal.

Information from the RCAHMS (MD) 15 March 2001.
