Nothing is now visible of a building that stood in the cultivated ground about 500m SSE of Towmill farmsteading (NJ62SW 29). The building is depicted as roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1870, sheet liii), but it appears to have been removed before the end of the 19th century and it is not shown on the 2nd edition of the map (1901, sheet liii.NW).

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 26 May 1999.

A building forming one side of a triangular enclosure is depicted in this vicinity on the 1797 plan of Auchnagathle on the estate of Leith Hall (E 33927 and E 33928 CN), but appears to lie to the west of this site.
