Location formerly entered as NX 184 956.

A series of linear cropmarks across the upper S-facing slopes of Shalloch Hill have been revealed by aerial photography. These are depicted as field boundaries on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ayrshire 1858, sheet lv). Further linear cropmarks are probably modern field drains. The cropmark of a quarry (NX19NE 63) and a palisaded settlement (NX19NE 19) have been recorded immediately to the N.
