The tail of this lock has been severed and culverted so that Abbots Road may traverse the canal. On some of the stones of the lock chamber are masons marks.

Due to culverting for Abbots Road, this lock has been severed at its tail.

This lock is clearly marked as Lock 4 on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Stirlingshire 1865, sheet xxiv) and is shown as a lock on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1982) and on the OS Basic Scale digital map (2000).
