This aqueduct, designed in the 1780s by Whitworth, is a smaller and more delicate construction than the 1881 Maryhill Road Aqueduct (NS56NE 98).

The Forth and Clyde Canal Guidebook 1991.

The arch of this aqueduct is an original, designed by Whitworth, and it carries the canal over Lochburn Road. As well as the aqueduct, constructed between 1784 and 1790, a ferry used to operate at this point at the end of the nineteenth century.

H Brown 1997.

This aqueduct is visible on the 1st Edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire 1865, vi), carrying the canal over a minor road.
