A township, comprising nine roofed buildings, one of which has a horse-engine attached, one unroofed building and three enclosures, one of which is incomplete, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1870, sheet lxi). Four roofed buildings and five enclosures are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972).

Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 12 April 1999.

Fichlie is a working farmsteading comprising buildings of both 19th- and 20th- century date; none of the unroofed buildings depicted here on the 1st edition map are now visible.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 27 November 2002.
