This intermediate station on the Aberdeen-Dyce-Keith (main) line of the former Great North of Scotland Rly was opened by that company in 4 November 1867. It replaced an earlier station of the same name (which itself opened in April 1856) on the extension of the line through the Denburn valley into the Joint Station (NJ90NW 136.00) at Aberdeen.

This station closed to regular passenger traffic on 6 May 1968; the line remains in regular use.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 26 March 2003.
