Depleted footings of a longhouse c.9m by 3m with a small enclosure or kailyard, on the E bank of the river, wedged between the river and a rocky cliff. In all the site covers 0.5 ha.

I A G Shepherd and S M Ralston 1982.

(Location cited as NJ 7920 3670). Air photography (AAS/80/08/S7/34-7, flown 10 October 1980 and BKS vertical NJ73N 2731167, flown 7 July 1977) has recorded the depleted footings of a longhouse on a river terrace at an altitude of 45m OD. A small enclosure (?kailyard) and other walls are situated nearer to the river, and there are enclosures of both rectangular and circular form above the settlement on the terrace.

[Noted as depicted by Roy].

NMRS, MS/712/35.

The description would suggest that the site is at NJ 7914 3665. At this location one unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1873, sheet xxix), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1984).

Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 30 March 1999.
