NJ50SW 27 from NJ 5420 0000 to NJ 5500 0007

The dismantled Aboyne Extension railway is visible on oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1994). This extension to the Deeside Railway, later part of the Great North of Scotland Railway network, was opened on 2 December 1859, extending from Banchory to Aboyne. The line was closed to regular passenger traffic on 2 December 1966.
