This is a concrete ramp and associated wooden pier which were in use by Scalpay car ferry (Isle of Rhum, built by Lamont of Port Glasgow) on the date of visit. It is likely to cease operation in December 1997 with the opening of a road bridge to the mainland of Harris (Kyles of Scalpay). The ferry was operated by Macsween Brothers for Caledonian Macbrayne (Isle of Rhum previously operated other island routes, including Skye to Raasay).

Visited by RCAHMS (MKO), 13 June 1996
