Falls partly in Golspie parish.
Oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1995) show the island in Loch Salachaidh. The Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB) describes the loch as 'A small lake situated about 20 Miles East of Rogart and through which the parish boundary runs dividing the parishes of "Golspie" and "Rogart". The name signifies The Dirty Loch' (Name Book 1879).
Information from RCAHMS (KJ) 15 February 1999.
