(Location cited as NS 490 635 and name as Anchor Mills, Seedhill). Founded 1812 by J and J Clark.

The main 5-storey red-brick Atlantic and Pacific Mills were demolished in 1972-3. These fine buildings were built in 1872 (spinning) and 1878 (twisting) respectively. A central tower linking the two was added in 1886.

The main surviving buildings are now the 5-storey, 18-by-16-bay spool shop, and the 6-storey, 8-by-18-bay Mile End block with its two towers (1899-1900, W J Morley of Bradford, architect). The two enormous chimneys also survive.

One of the more interesting smaller buildings is the 3-storey and attic L-plan 8-by-18-bay rubble 'Old Embriodery' block, which was a shawl factory before Anchor Mills were founded.

NS 488 635 Prior to a proposed retail and residential development, an archaeological evaluation between May and July 2002 revealed a demolition layer overlying the foundations of the former mill buildings, which had heavily truncated the underlying natural clay subsoil. No features of archaeological significance were revealed.

A programme of historic building recording works was also conducted to record the upstanding remains of the former Domestic Finishing Mill at Anchor Mills. (AOC 3806, AOC 3811).
