One of the radio receiving/transmitters for Tain Airfield and its transformer is situated at a point where a track leads W from a minor public road and where it crosses the railway from Inverness to Tain.

There are three buildings constructed of concrete, one, the VHF receiving station lies 120m SE from the road immediately alongside the railway. The transformer and one other building are located either side of the minor road immediately E of the railway bridge. All are visible on vertical air photogarphs (RAF 106G/UK 751 5083-4, flown 1945).
