Buddon Ness, Barry Links a large area of army camps, small arms ranges, assault courses and an airfield.

J Guy 2000; NMRS MS 810/9

The military camps built to provide training, accommodation and classroom facilities are visible on RAF WW II oblique aerial photographs (S223, 34-47, flown 17 June 1941) and postwar vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 55, Pt.15022-5034, flown 8 May 1946), which show a hutted camp with several larger buildings amongst them.

The most recent OS 1:2500 scale digital maps show that the camp buildings are now mainly concentrated at NO 5210 3270 and replaced by modern buildings.
