The U482 submarine was depth charged and sunk by HM ships PEACOCK, HART, STARLING and AMESTHYST.
Surveying Details

6 June 1969. The vessel was sunk approximately 6 miles NW of Machrihanish or 55 30 00N, 005 53 00W.

7 August 1985. The site was examined on 29 May 1985 at 55 30 18N, 005 51 21W or decca (n.brit) red g 11.60, purple h 57.18. The least echosounder depth was 56.3 in a general depth of 64 metres. A scour to the depth of 1 metre was observed. The side scan sonar indicated a height of 6.4 metres and length of 70 metres (230 feet). The vessel is lying on an orientation of 045/225 degrees.
