Chimney [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1992.

A brick-built chimney, situated on a low rise 125m E of Tillycorthie Mansion (NJ92SW 114.00) was built c.1910-12 when the central heating system of the house was installed. It was intended that smoke be taken well away from the house, but the near-horizontal shaft between the boiler room and the chimney was poorly designed and the chimney was soon abandoned.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, ATW), 29 January 1997.
