NN92SW 25.19 91273 22533

Not to be confused with NN92SW 25.18 (estate gasworks at NN 91764 21993).

A brick-built and slate-roofed building at the SE corner of the east walled garden of Abercairny House (NN92SW 25.12) was formerly an estate gasworks. It evidently succeeded the earlier gasworks (NN92SW 25.18), and post-dates the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire, sheet xcvi.SW, 1901).

The interior, which is floored in concrete, is now empty except for a pair of iron pipes borne on brick pillars. These run along the W, N and E sides, rising in height from 0.2m to 0.6m.

Visited by RCAHMS (IF), 10 November 1995; (undated) information from Sir William Drummond-Murray.
