The L-shaped building that is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire, sheet xcvi, 1867) 460m NE of Carsehead steading (NN92SE 34.00) survives as footings in an area of undergrowth: the re-entrant angle and the E end are the features most clearly identifiable. On the S, a stream flows in a deeply-cut lade along the natural scarp that overlooks the building.

This lade supplied water to this location from a pond at Carsehead steading, strongly suggesting that the building is the remains of a mill. The height difference between the lade and the footings that survive today would imply that the mill was originally of two storeys, with an overshot wheel and the drive at first floor level. The S bank of the burn which lies immediately to the N of the mill has been revetted with small boulders.

Visited by RCAHMS (RJCM, JRS), 9 November 1995.
