To the E of a track on the grass-covered W flank of Benghie and spread over a distance of about 200m from E to W by a similar distance transversely, there are six huts, four pens or sheepfolds, a hut-circle, and a few small cairns.
The huts (Cree94 153-5, 157, 177, 179) range in size from 4.5m to 7.3m in length and 3.8m to 5.4m in breadth over stony banks spread up to 1.3m in thickness and standing 0.15m to 0.35m high. Three have entrances in one end (Cree94 154, 157 and 177) and two are sub-divided into two compartments (Cree94 177 and 179).
Two of the folds are built of drystone rubble and lie 60m apart. The westernmost, which is situated immediately E of the track, is subrectangular on plan, measuring 13m from W to E by 10m transversely within walls 0.7m thick, and is subdivided by a N to S bank into two unequal parts. To the NW of the fold there is a collapsed pen (Cree94 156) which is linked to the fold by a bank. The fold is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map and labelled 'Old Rees' (Kirkcudbrightshire 1852, sheet 37). The easternmost fold is rectangular on plan, measures 13.1m from NW to SE by 9.4m transversely over rubble walls 0.6m thick, and is sub-divided into two compartments (Cree94 158).
The third sheepfold is situated at the back of a terrace on the E of the site and measures about 6.5m by 4.5m within faced-rubble walls, 0.7m thick and up to 0.5m high, with traces of a second compartment to the W (Cree94 160). The pen (NX 5706 6241), which is very much reduced, measures about 4m square over stony banks 0.8m thick and 0.2m high (Cree94 178).
The hut-circle is situated on the NW side of a shallow gully (NX 5713 6232); it has been much disturbed and measures 9.5m by 8.5m within a stony bank spread to 1.3m in thickness and 0.6m in height (Cree94 159). There are a few small cairns on a terrace to the N .
