'Forgandenny Brick & Tile Works. An extensive Brick & Tile Works situated immediately adjoining Forgandenny Station...'

Name Book 1859.

The first edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire, 1866, sheet cix) names this works and notes 'Kilns' and 'Wells'; an irregular area of water (presumably a clay pit) is depicted immediately to the N.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 7 December 1995.

Few remains can now be identified of the former brick and tile works at Forgandenny that is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire, sheet cix, 1866), but had been abandoned by 1901; the area of the works is depicted as wooded on the 2nd edition of the map (Perthshire, sheet cix.NE). Most of the area was landscaped and redeveloped in the 1970's when a new house was built, but a pond, possibly a modified clay pit, has been retained as a garden feature.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, RJCM) 24 November 1995.
